Navotas jail holds plastic bonsai-making workshop
The Navotas City Jail has recently launched a new workshop for its persons deprived of liberty (PDL) which aims to teach them a new skill in making plastic bonsai trees.
The plastic bonsai trees can be used for decoration or as a gift. The program aims to uplift the morale of the PDLs and to provide them with additional knowledge that they can use to earn a living after their release.
The program is open to all PDLs who are interested in learning the craft. They will be taught the basic skills in making plastic bonsai trees, from choosing the right materials to assembling the parts.
The activity will not only teach them a new skill but will also give them a sense of accomplishment as they complete each project.
For those who are interested in purchasing the plastic bonsai trees made by the PDLs, they may fill out the order form available at https://tinyurl.com/NavotasPDLBonsai.
The bonsai trees are available in different colors and sizes, and orders will be made on a pay-as-you-order basis. The program not only provides a source of livelihood for the PDLs but also promotes the rehabilitation and reintegration of the PDLs into society.
