2,000 Navotas residents benefit from Cash for Work program
Some 2,000 Navoteños benefited from the Cash for Work program implemented together by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the City Government of Navotas.
Beneficiaries received P5,370.00 for 10 days of work from September 12-21, 2022.
They were assigned to do various tasks such as barangay cleanup, urban gardening, canal declogging, and coastal cleanup.
“Many Navoteños still suffer from the economic impact of the pandemic, with some losing their livelihood due to rightsizing or business closure,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.
“Despite the decreasing number of COVID cases, it might take our economy a while to fully recover. Providing job opportunities is just one of the ways our city government extends assistance to its constituents in this challenging time,” he added.
Aside from Cash for Work, Navotas also opened slots for Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), a program of the DSWD coordinated through the office of Cong. Toby Tiangco.
Some 700 registered Navoteño solo parents stand to benefit from this program.
