Navotas bans firecrackers, fireworks
Navotas City announced a ban on the use of firecrackers and any other pyrotechnic devices or materials.
In Executive Order No. TMT-060, Mayor Toby Tiangco noted that aside from minimizing the risk of injuries, the ban will help reduce instances of gathering because of fireworks display.
"People go out to the streets to light firecrackers or witness fireworks display. However, because of the pandemic, we must avoid any mass gathering," the mayor said.
Mass gatherings are prohibited in accordance with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine.
"We want Navoteños to celebrate Christmas in the safety of their homes. Cases of COVID-19 are increasing. We need to enforce additional safety measures to prevent further virus transmission," he added.
EO TMT-060 is pursuant to the Regional Peace and Order Council Resolution No. 19-2020.
