Navotas bolsters law enforcement for peace and order

The City Government of Navotas strengthened the implementation of existing laws and city ordinances to uphold peace and order.

During Mayor John Rey Tiangco’s first 100 days as local chief executive, Navotas police arrested 10 Top Most Wanted and 31 Most Wanted personalities, including the suspect in the June 15 shooting incident at Brgy. San Jose.

The police also seized P6,474,736 worth of illegal drugs and P22,268 illegal gambling money following the conduct of various operations and raids from July-September.

Meanwhile, 72 persons who use drugs graduated from Bidahan, the city’s community-based drug rehabilitation program; 70 drug-related Text JRT reports were acted upon; and 1,660 individuals and suspected drug-users underwent drug-testing.

Strict implementation of the city’s ordinances resulted in apprehensions of 4,512 traffic and parking violators; 497 violators fined under anti-smoking and anti-littering laws; and 32 busted illegal fishing activities.

Tiangco also led the inauguration of the newly-renovated Navotas City Central Fire Station, and the newly-constructed Disaster Risk Reduction Management staging area.

The city also purchased two additional garbage trucks, and collected 82,179 kilos of solid waste and debris during the 37th International Coastal Clean-up.

Moreover, 144 mangrove and 129 tree saplings were planted in the Tanza Marine Tree Park and other open spaces in the city.

To cap these accomplishments, Navotas received the 2021 High Functional Anti-Drug Abuse Council, and 2019 and 2021 Functional Local Peace and Order Council citations from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
