Navotas public school graduates to get incentives

The coronavirus pandemic might have robbed graduates the opportunity to get their diploma on stage, but it cannot deter them from receiving their cash incentives from the Navotas city government.

Mayor Toby Tiangco announced Monday that the city government will start distribution of P3.8 million worth of incentives to 6,037 public school graduates on May 26 until May 30.

Elementary graduates will receive P500. Those who finished high school and college will get P1,000 and P1,500, respectively.

“We will release the incentives by batch to ensure that social distancing will be observed. School principals have already been advised about their respective schedules,” Tiangco said.

“Most of the beneficiaries are minors thus, they are not allowed to go out of their homes. Their parents or guardians may claim their incentives on their behalf,” he explained.

Those who will claim the incentives need to bring their home quarantine pass, a signed authorization letter from the graduate, photocopy of the graduate’s school ID with three signatures, and photocopy of any valid ID of the parent/guardian/representative with three signatures.

“Wear a mask when you go out. Make sure that both your nose and mouth are covered; otherwise, the mask will not be able to protect you from COVID-19,” Tiangco advised.

Navotas started giving graduation incentives in 2019 to encourage students to finish their schooling or help support the pre-employment needs of college graduates.
